Media and Freedom of Expression
Media has done commendable job in reporting flood victims and affected areas. I am talking about international media not local media. Well its not that I am obsessed with foreigners and over look their interests in Pakistan. Being a media student I know the difference between objective and slanted journalism. There are a lot of us who rejoice the freedom of media and everyone should be. Comparing 2010 with 2005
The country has not seen such devastating flood since 80 years and when it struck no one was prepared for it. The government was involved in its gimmickry and ignorance, innocent people were unaware of this calamity and concerned authorities let the warnings go unheard. The worst of all we were not even prepared for the post disaster challenges. Just five years ago Earthquake struck we were not ready at that time. The disaster was unique and massive in its kind. People of Pakistan stood up to this challenge and the kind of unity people saw was unprecedented.
